South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new flagship handset before the end of this year, namely the LG G3, and some more info on the matter appears to have emerged online.
According to a post in ZDNet Korea, the company is planning the unveiling of this handset in June and might bring it to the market sometime in July.
This means that LG G3 will arrive on shelves less than a year after the LG G2, something that has been rumored to happen before.
Last year’s handset landed on the market in August, yet the vendor might want to rush a counter to Samsung Galaxy S5, which arrived on shelves last week and has already registered record success.
Apparently, a company’s official has already confirmed that August would be too late to launch the device in current market conditions, but has not elaborated.
Moreover, as PhoneArena notes, LG is planning on packing the new handset with a 2K screen, and the fact that other vendors out there have already launched phones with such capabilities inside might prove an issue for it.
LG is supposedly considering a faster release of LG G3 so as to make sure that it will remain ahead of competition.
Specs-wise, LG G3 should prove a great handset, starting with its 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, and going all the way to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The device is also said to pack 3GB of RAM inside, and a better camera with optical image stabilization.
The smartphone should arrive on the market with the latest flavor of the Android operating system loaded on top, though it remains to be seen whether that will be Android 4.4.2 KitKat or Android 4.4.3.
Previous reports suggested that it would also come to the market with dust- and water-proof capabilities, though it’s yet uncertain whether LG will indeed pack it with this feature inside.
The upcoming LG G3 is also said to come to the market with a refreshed and flatter user interface when compared to that of its predecessors.
All in all, the new flagship handset from LG is shaping up as a great device, though it remains to be seen whether all of the reports on it will pan out in the end. Should the phone indeed be set for a June unveiling, LG should announce something on this soon, so stay tuned.
